How do I contact the student when it is time to start the class?
You must log in to the system in order to initiate a lesson.
Simply log in and go to the Lesson Bookings page and click on the Details link next to the lesson you wish to start. You will see a call button that you need to click to start the class. When you click the call button our system will log the start time of the call. Any classes started directly from your Skype window will not log a start time on our system, and you will not be able to receive any remuneration for the class.
Caution: All classes must be started from the call button within our system. There are no exceptions to this rule.

What is the RECORD START TIME LINK and how do I send it to my student?
After you have initiated your lesson from the call button and you have connected to the student via Skype or MSN you must send your student the RECORD START TIME LINK by a chat message.
You will find the link printed under the call button. Copy and paste it into your Skype or MSN chat window and send it to your student. Your student will click the link and they will be asked to enter their speakeikaiwa password.
Once they have done this you can check if they clicked the link successfully by clicking on the CHECK button located under the link. You will also receive an email telling you that the link was clicked.
It is imperative that you send the link, as you will not be paid for lessons where a student has not clicked the link. For a trial lesson it is also important to get them to click the link as this stops the student from being able to book more than one of your trial lessons.

How do I know if my student uses Skype or Messenger?
When you look at the student details on the Lesson Bookings page you will see an icon to click in order to start the class or add the student to your contact list. If the student is registered to use Skype a Skype icon will be shown and if they are registered to use Messenger a Messenger icon is displayed. (A student can only register one type of chat software) Please make sure you are logged in to the appropriate software before clicking the icons.
My student uses Messenger. Why doesn't my video start automatically?
When you initiate your class from our system, if the student uses Messenger we initiate a voice only call. If you have video you can then click the icon on the Messenger chat window to turn on or off your video. This gives you the choice to turn off your video if call quality is not good. The Messenger system does not allow for the video to be turned on or off if the initial call is initiated as a video call. For this reason we always initiate all calls as voice only.
