What is the diference between a normal booking and a standby booking?
When a profile that is not in standby mode is opened by a student only lessons that start more than 24 hours later than the current time are shown. In other words the earliest class a student can book is tomorrow. This gives adequate time for the teacher to receive the lesson details email and decide if they want to teach the class or cancel it.
In order for students to be able to book and start a class immediately we display for them a list of teachers that are online waiting in standby mode. When the student opens a teacher profile that is in standby mode there are no lesson dates or times displayed, just a single button to click to start a class immediately.

How do I put my profile in standby mode?
Simply select Standby Mode from the drop down menu when you log in to the system. When the page opens you just click the standby link and a separate page will open. As long as that page is open you are in standby mode. You can log out of speakeikaiwa.com or minimize the standby page and your standby status will not be changed. As long as the page is open you are in standby mode and can receive a class request from students.
Students can book either your paid lessons or a free trial lesson (if you are offering one) in standby mode. You will know when a student has requested a class, as a sound alert will be generated from the standby page.
When you first open the standby page make sure you click the test alert button to check if the alert can be heard from your speakers.
To exit standby mode simply close the page! Please note, when you first open the standby page, if you save it to your browser's favorites you can open it again from favorites in the future without having to log into our system.

How do I remove my profile from standby mode?
Simply close the standby window and your profile will be removed from the standby list. The standby page will stay live for up to four hours. After four hours a warning will be generated asking if you wish to extend your standby status.
How do I contact the student requesting my class?
When a student requests your standby class the standby page will generate a sound alert, show you if it is a free trial or paid class, and show an accept button and a decline button.
Clicking the accept button will display the student details and a call button.
As with normal lessons please remember to send the START LESSON LINK to your student by chat once you have made contact with them.
